Since we have been here, Lisa and I have been checking out the Bollywood scene. I have only seen small parts of ones before. Lisa watched a few last time here. Make sure you have time to invest, they come with an Intermission. The average movie last three hours. It takes us two or three evenings to finish one. All of them have a strong cultural message. Not sure where you can find them where ever you live, but here are a few that we recommend.
Veer Zaara -Love story between people from different countries and religions.
Swades - An Indian national who works for NASA in the US, comes home to his village in India and finds love.
Lagaan - a fable about how Cricket came to India. If you know nothing about Cricket and want to, this will get you started. Keon recommends this one.
Rang De Basanti - Cultural message using the past to encourage the future.
We will let you know when we find more good ones.
